MEET OUR TEAM
My name is Barbara “Precious” Francis. I was born and raised in the parish of St. Andrew, Jamaica in a small district of Mt. James. I was raised in a large family with seven brothers and three sisters. My parents were giving individuals that would go to extremes to help others. Growing up, I watched my mom cooking and sharing; everyone would get equal amounts; so I think her generosity and kindness has passed on to me.
In 2016, the Lord spoke to me in a vision saying, “Go back home to provide children with schools supplies for the starting of the school year”. I questioned the Lord and asked “why me? I don’t have any money to do that”. I ignored the call, but i could not rest comfortably. He spoke to me a second time and I said, “Lord if this is you talking to me you have to provide the resources for me to do what you have commissioned me to do”.
In three months, I was able to pack three barrels, go home to Jamaica, and distribute the basic supplies needed for 100 school children. From that point on, “Mission For Christ” was born and in 2018, we were able to assist over 300 students.
My name is Jodian Douglas-Watson and I was born and raised in the hills of Mount Airy District until the tender age of 12 when my family decided to move to our maternal family home located at Water Lane, Mount James St. Andrew.
Growing up in the “country” with my sister Yhaneek, our childhood years were filled with much fun and enjoyment. With the parents that we had, education was vital and was placed at the fore front of our lives. Though we never had everything we wanted, we had everything that we needed for us to be successful in life.
I believe every parent’s goal is to provide the best life and education for their child/children, but with limited resources often times this is not quite attainable. Not many families in the community could afford the all basic necessities in life yet alone to send their child/children to school every day with all essential tools that were needed. I have seen what lack of education and lack of resources can do to a person and a community. In situations like these, often times one become overwhelmed and burdened and feels as though there is no way out of their situation.
So when the notion of “Mission for Christ” was presented to me, I instantaneously knew that I had to join forces to be a part of this organization and aid in its success. We figured if we can help to bridge the gap and offer some support in providing school supplies, then at least part of the battle is over. We at Mission for Christ are committed to our community and will continue to provide support and aid to those who need it. I believe that knowledge is power and with education and perseverance, one can unlock ones true potential in life.
I am Cylina Francis. I was born in Jamaica, in a small district called Mt. James. I am beyond blessed and appreciative of how God has been gracious to me. “Chip never falls far from the block”. My parents were always helping and caring for others especially my mother. I’m proud to follow in their footsteps and to be apart of the Mission For Christ project, helping children in Jamaica.
Glory be to God!
My name is Angella Francis, born and raised in a quiet rural district of Mount James Saint Andrew called Water Lane. I grew up in a two-parent household, along with eleven siblings including myself and extended family which comprised cousins and nieces. Though I admired both my parents, my mother was the one whom I looked up to the most. She was this strong-willed disciplinarian and a no-nonsense person but was soft at the very center of her being. She was always helping, sharing and always had her doors open to anyone who was in need. She was the perfect definition of a good Samaritan.
Growing up, I drew some of these qualities from my mother and became a strong-willed disciplinarian and a go getter, but most of all I have always tried my best to help in any way that I can. I have been blessed in so many areas of my life and finally have more resources than I have ever had in the past. So, when my sister approached me with the idea of Mission for Christ, an organization whose focus would be giving back to the community, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I knew that this is what my mom would have done, and this was a way for me to carry on that legacy that my mom instilled in me all those years ago.
Mission for Christ is and will always be committed to helping the less fortunate in any way that we can with the resources that we have at hand.
